Equipment

Here are the basics that we use along with some helpful extras.

BLENDTEC BLENDER
– We love our Blendtec blender! This thing is more powerful than a skillsaw! It’s crazy! You know those videos on Youtube where they blend insane stuff like iPhones … this is the blender they use! This thing seriously changed our lives. Now one of these or a Vitamix is great IF you can afford it. If you’re not there yet (keep manifesting that abundance!).. then use a regular blender and if possible, get ‘ice blades’ for it and it will chunk up foods much better.

TWIN GEAR JUICER – There’s nothing like juicing fresh, organic produce and getting as much nutrition out of it as you can. The twin gear juicers are a simple concept in juicing that eliminates the overheating of the produce and extracts a ton of the juice out. You want the pulp to be as dry as possible and that is what you get. Easy to clean, too! When we first went raw we had a simple style juicer that created such warm juice we actually had to add ice to the juice! When we got one of these babies we knew our health would benefit. We make green juice every single day at least once if not more! Getting a quality juicer is probably one of the most important decisions for your health. Period.

FOOD PROCESSOR – You can go as fancy or as simple as you like in the food processor department. We have one of these Black & Decker ones. Works fine for us. It’s great for making nutmeat tacos or mixing up foods for cookies and crackers, etc. An all around great tool and you’ll need one if you want to get serious about raw foods.

EXCALIBUR DEHYDRATOR – The big decision – getting a dehydrator. That’s when you are really stepping up to the plate and saying, “Hey, I’m a raw foodist!” Yeah! It opens up a whole new world so you can make crispy crunchy things like kale chips and pizza crust and … well, you get the idea. Nine trays might seem like a lot but you’ll fill it up real fast! Now you can make your own fruit roll ups!

EXTRAS THAT HELP THE GOURMET PROCESS

COFFEE/SPICE GRINDER – We use a coffee grinder to grind up spices that we dry in our dehydrator. You can pick fresh rosemary, dry it and then grind it up in one of these and voila! You’ve got your own amazing rosemary spice! This is a nice extra tool for getting creative in the raw world.

SALADACCO – You’ve probably seen it on TV and thought… ‘That looks silly!’ But this little plastic invention can turn zucchini into spaghetti in less than five minutes! Super fun and you can find tons of uses for this tool. Great for a myriad of spiralizing and slicing brainstorms for your raw explosions!

COOK’S KNIFE – You have more chance of injury with a dull knife than you do with a sharp knife! So make sure you’re working with strong, sharp blades. This 6″ Cook’s Knife by Wusthof is our favorite. It’s versatile and is a good one to start with if you are in need of knives.

BRON MANDOLINE
– We hunted for the right mandoline to create those dishes where you want things sliced paper thin. This is the one. Wow. The Bron Mandoline is amazing. Sturdy and simple to use. You do need to be very, very careful as the blades are extremely sharp. Hence, it’s ability to cut fennel into paper thin strips. Or apples. Or red bell peppers. You get the idea. A wonderful enhancement for your living food creations!
